Underpinned by a traditional pictorial culture that balances sentiment and sobriety, visual arts in the Netherlands have long been the fulcrum of creative and artistic practices. Over the past decade, a new generation of fashion photographers and illustrators has emerged who seek to reappropriate traditional codes, adding a new twist. The fashion industry is an ideal medium for this visual critique that blurs the boundaries between reality and fiction. Located far from the international fashion capitals, Dutch designers have been free to develop a unique vision and distance. This photographic journey introduces seven fashion illustrators and three fashion photographers: Peter Jeroense Piet Paris, Denise van Leeuwen, Yke schotten, I'm Jac, Fleur van Maarschalkerwaart Ferdinand, Wendelien Daan, Vivianne Sassen and Bianca Pilet.
